Both of our practices are well respected and are affiliated with many organizations:
Dr. M. Girdhar is a board-certified allergist/immunologist who provides comprehensive allergy, asthma, and immunology care for both children and adults. She brings a warm, patient-centered approach to treating a wide range of allergic and immunologic conditions across all age groups — from infants and toddlers to adolescents, adults, and seniors.
A native of the area and proud graduate of Hinsdale Central High School, Dr. Girdhar completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, earned her medical degree from Midwestern University, and completed her pediatric residency at Loyola University Medical Center. She then pursued specialized fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating in 2014.
Dr. Girdhar’s clinical expertise spans a wide spectrum of allergic and immunological conditions, including but not limited to: food and medication allergies, asthma in both children and adults, eczema and other allergic skin condition, seasonal and environmental allergies (rhinitis, conjunctivitis, chronic sinusitis), chronic rashes and hives, and immunodeficiency disorders.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Girdhar served as a co-author on a publication in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology that examined how omega-3 fatty acid intake during pregnancy may influence the development of allergic conditions in children.
Dr. Girdhar is passionate about helping families breathe easier, feel better, and live fuller lives — whether she’s treating a young child with food allergies or an adult with chronic asthma. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her husband, three children, and close friends.
Dr. Daina Ringus is an allergist and immunologist who cares for both adults and children with a full spectrum of allergic and immunologic conditions. She earned her undergraduate degree at Yale University and went on to complete a PhD in Food Science & Technology at Cornell University. Her research prior to medical school focused on the gut microbiome. Inspired by her scientific work and a desire to help patients, she pursued medical school at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Allergy & Immunology. During fellowship, her research centered on understanding food allergy in adults in the clinic and at the basic immunological level.
Dr. Ringus’s clinical expertise includes the management of food allergy, asthma, allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, chronic urticaria, eczema, and drug allergy. She is passionate about helping food allergy patients and their families with evidence-based treatments and individualized care strategies.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Ringus enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, playing tennis, and reading.
Dr. K. Girdhar is the original founder of Hinsdale Asthma and Allergy Center. Currently she is not accepting new patients as she eases into retirement. Dr. K Girdhar has handed the practice down to her daughter, Dr. Manika Girdhar. She is a board certified allergist that has been in practice in the western suburbs for the past 40 years. She has extensive experience in treating asthma of all severity, environmental allergies, food allergies, medication allergy, chronic sinus problems, chronic cough, skin allergies (eczema, contact allergies, chemical allergies), and exercise-induced coughs. Dr. K. Girdhar has held a position as clinical assistant professor in Pediatrics and Allergy Immunology at the University of Chicago for 15 years, and has trained both residents and medical students. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children along with her 5 grandchildren, and traveling.
